A Few Simple Reminders on How to Avoid Idle Time in a Wedding ReceptionBy Juhlin YouleinJust as everyone is excited with the marriage proper, guests are also excited for the reception. It is the time wherein they are indulged with good food and presentations after the ceremony. It is hours and hours of socializing with the other important people, the performance of the many traditions in wedding (like toasting, first dance, cutting of the cake, tossing of the bouquet and garter, and many other depending on various religious practices). This is a time of fun and an opportunity of the bride and groom as well as their families to thank the guests for witnessing the celebration. However, there will be sometimes idle times in the party. They can come at times when some of the guests arrive earlier than the newly weds (most of the time it happens this way), when there will be technical difficulties, while waiting for the guests to arrive and when everyone starts eating. This is sometimes what we can call idle times. The hushes and chatters are not the only sounds that you want to hear but it should be accompanied with entertainment that can liven up the place. To avoid this, here are some of reminders on how to avoid having them: 1. If the couple included wedding videography as part of their wedding plans, try to have them ready at all times. They may not be the videos that will be presented on the program proper but they can be in forms of Photo Montage or photo scrapbooks. Great photos of the couples that tell stories about their adventures together can be very entertaining to guests. 2. Never forget to have music. You can hire a band or a group of musicians to serenade your guests while waiting for the program to begin. While they are eating, you can play classical songs or any of the couples favorite music. Any sound that can create a great ambiance will do perfectly. You can also hire a disc jockey to liven up the place while waiting. In fact, guests can start partying even before the couples have arrived. 3. As much as possible, ensure that events fall on time. Have your wedding coordinators do their best in making things organized. While waiting for things to happen, it is important to keep guests comfortable during the waiting period. Have your people roam around and socialize with them. 4. In cases of problems and if your wedding videography is being played a thousand times already or if the band has been playing same songs over and over again, it is better to update the guests. The master presentor of the party should inform the guests about the delay. 5. Serve Hors d'œuvre or any finger food that are appetizing while waiting for things to happen. Do not forget to fill their glasses with water or any other drinks that are available to them. Also when conceptualizing the decors for the place, make sure that everything placed is pleasing to the eye. So no matter what is going on, they are just ok with what is around.
